Japanese Calligraphy and Tsumami-zaiku
Sarah from England came for the beginners Calligraphy class and Tsumami-zaiku class:)
First, she did Tsumami-zaiku.
Choosing colour takes long time usually but she picked very quickly!!
Then started folding fabrics after I showed how to do.
I’ve done this class about 10 times so far and seen guests struggled for the first time to fold them but she was different!!
She learnt very quickly and did very well!!
It’s a bit tricky to fold the squared of fabrics with tweezers so many of guests started using fingers instead of tweezers,,, but she was very good at it!!
I was wondering why she was so good. *I asked later haha
Then, she made the colourful corsage (on her chest) 🙂
*Even though we took another photo, I still like this photo she was smiling and looking at me:D Reminds me the fun time with her!
After that, she did the Calligraphy class!!
She wrote 一人旅 “solo trip”.
I first suggested her “trip” only as “solo trip” is 3 words in Japanese Kanji. Trip is only one kanji 旅 so it’s easier. But she wanted solo trip then just gave it try.
Again,,, she learnt very quickly!!
So I told her that I was wondering why she learnt so quickly both Tsumami-zaiku and Calligraphy (using brush):P She said it maybe because of her mother. She also likes craft and painting so Sarah did with her many times when she was a kid. I was like ahhhh that’s why…!!
We talked a lot things like how she met her boyfriend, how I met my husband.haha I had a great time with Sarah!!
She plans to move to Greece next year. So I might see her again in Greece as it’s on my list<3
Then she left a great review on TripAdvisor🙂
I was looking for an activity to do in some quiet time (I’m a solo female traveller for 6 weeks, Japan can be overwhelming!) when I came across Wakana’s classes. I booked 2 for one morning – Tsumami-zaiku and Calligraphy. I must admit I was feeling tired and stressed the morning I went – and I came away feeling calm, happy, and like I’d made some Japanese crafts and a new friend!
Wakana is the loveliest person you could want to meet. We chatted away as she explained what to do and told me about the history of the arts. She gave me recommendations for my trip to Akita. I came away with 2 pieces of craft that I am proud of. Go, go, go, it is a brilliant, unique experience and a chance to breathe and create something beautiful!
What makes me happy is she felt calm and made a new friend;)
She felt exactly what I want my guests feel as I always welcome my guests as my friends.
Thanks Sarah for visiting me!! And thank YOU for taking time to read this:)
